Largest Display of Origami Hearts Will Remain Until End of Angkor Sankranta

SIEM REAP: Cambodia officially broke the Guinness World Record for largest display of origami hearts on Tuesday, 11 April 2023, with nearly four million origami hearts counted. The record-breaking feat will continue to be displayed around Angkor Wat until the end of Angkor Sankranta.

According to a press release issued by the Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia (UYFC) on Tuesday, the Origami Heart Garden exhibition is a part of Khmer New Year celebrations, and also represents the heart and love language of Khmer culture and civilization.

The UYFC thank the Cambodian public for taking part in the origami heart folding process, and for especially raising funds to support athletes with disabilities and inviting the public to visit the Origami Heart Garden.

The President of UYFC, Hun Many, has stated that the main purpose of this origami heart display was "not only to break the world record, but to also create a program that brings people from all walks of life, social groups and ages together, or in other words, bringing all our differences together and making sacrifices together while working towards the same goal."

The Guinness Book of World Records officially announced that Cambodia broke the world record for the largest display of origami hearts in the world, with nearly 4 million (3,917,805) paper hearts on Tuesday, 11 April.
